So, what is the Tesla Powerwall?
The Powerwall 1 was originally introduced to the market in 2015, with limited production and availability in the US. Tesla unveiled their brand new Giga Factory in Nevada, Texas and started to roll out the Powerwall 2 in 2017. 2017 was the year the battery storage market really took off in the UK and across Europe, with other major brands such as Growatt and Pylontech dominating the sector.
The Powerwall 2 was head and shoulders above its predecessor, offering an all-in one unit with storage and a DC to AC inverter. Powerwall 2 offers a 13.5kWh usable capacity storage solution, compared to the 6.4kWh usable capacity of the Powerwall 1, which has since been discontinued.
